SF Oktoberfest

Whew! We survived another Oktobestfest! I'm not sure if I can handle may more of these...or should I say my liver can't handle may more of these!

Saturday a big group of us hopped on the train to San Francisco to spend most of the day drinking liters of German beer, eating yummy German food and dancing to fun German music. We ran into lots of old friends and made plenty of new ones. I can happily say that we didn't lose anyone this year and we didn't get thrown off the train on the way home. Sad that grown adults have to be happy about things like that haha! Mike and I decided to skip out of the post Oktoberfest meal and run home from the train before anyone noticed we had left :) Then we proceeded to sleep from 6:30pm until 9:00am the next morning! Multiple liters of beer and sun will do that do you I guess. Stay tuned for the Redwood City Oktoberfest (happening on October 23rd if you are interested in coming for a visit) which should be much more mellow. Should be....
Train ride up to SF - The Vicky/Viki's dressed up in their German wear
Our new friend who Victoria "iced". This apparently is some insane game where you gift a Smirnoff Ice to someone and they must take a knee and drink the full thing, or pull out their own Smirnoff Ice to block the icing. I have NO idea....
Some of the group - 11am with liters in hand (Jen looks thrilled to be there)
Joe and Michelle win best dressed for the day!
I forced Mike to stop eating his pork knuckle (yuck!) for a second
Karen's 19 week baby boy bump!!
Yay it's Jennie! She came from Lincoln to meet us :)
Train ride home - and yup that is MORE beer! Why we needed that is beyond me but Joe thought he saved the day but buying us some for the ride home.
This says it all!!!

New Floors

Hooray!! Our house is finally starting to look like a grown-ups! Mike and I have finally accepted that we are stuck in our place for years to come so we decided we might as well make it look the way we want. Mike slaved away, with the help of Cody and Larry, at putting in our new bamboo floors and we LOVE them! Hanna is adjusting to not having grip when she plays although she has already scratched the floor up way more than we were expecting. Bamboo is suppose to be stronger than wood, but apparently scratches easier. Thanks for telling us that at the store sales man!!! Grrr! We've been training her to head to the area carpet when we get home so she can spaz out there instead of slide all over the floor. We bought a new coffee table, end table, "bookcase" and cabinet all with gaining more storage in mind. We are more than happy with the way things have turned out! Next up is putting in base boards, getting our table and chairs refinished to match the new furniture and eventually getting a new front door and TV. I've been fighting Mike off on the new TV for a while now but I'm starting to give in since that giant box of a TV takes up SO much room. I'm sure it will be onto another room after this... The joys of home ownership! Glad the room we spend the most time is almost complete though :)
Our new red cabinet and soon to be re-stained and re-covered table and chairs
New "bookcase" where the fish tank will live once we bring it back downstairs
New area rug and coffee table. This is the best rug EVER! 4inches of plush wonderfulness!
Check out our Rohrbach sign that Mike's Cousin got us!!

Broken Lizard

Last Friday Mike was out of town for another work race so I decided to go see a comedy show in the city with Victoria, Carmen and Carmen's husband. The comedy group Broken Lizards is the group of guys that wrote, directed and stared in Super Troopers and Beerfest (amongst many others). Victoria saw them last year and said they were great so I couldn't miss this time around. We had gone to dinner before hand at Celia's - they were donating 10% of all sales to the San Bruno fire fund - and had to fly up to the city to wait in the VERY long line to get into the show. We got lucky being towards the back of the line though because we were right by the green room windows and the guys kept popping their heads out and talking to us. I love them even more now because they haven't let the fame go to their heads. They are real people and weren't hiding in the back before and after their show! We finally got let in (it was beyond misty that night and we were getting soaked) and got decent seats. The show was great! The guys come out together and then do individual sets, then end together. Look for their comedy central special, it should be out soon! After we hung around to take pictures with them then headed back home. Sadly only 3 of the guys made it in our picture. One guy wasn't there and the other was talking in the crowd. I'd see them again in a heart beat!

Dunsmuir 2010

A little delayed, but better late than never! Here are some pictures from this years family trip up to Dunsmuir. We look forward to this trip all year round and it always seems to come and go too quickly. Mike had a blast fishing and I got to relax and haning out with B and Gavin all day long (and mom and Aunt Noreen). The Saturday dinner theme this year was "Halloween in September" so we all got to dress up. My table decided to dress up as fruit, which was pretty hilarious. I think everyone had a great time and once again we are looking forward to next year.

Video's

I'll post more later on our trip to Dunsmuir, but I couldn't wait to share these adorable videos of Gavin (who else!?) Two of them are Gavin and Hanna playing with balloons (they did this for close to an hour until she popped them all) and one is of Papa, Mama and Gavin playing at the dinner table. Is this kid cute or what!?
