Baby Bowen's Baby Shower

This past Saturday I hosted, with amazing help from Cary & Vicky, a co-ed shower to celebrate the soon arrival of Karen's little boy. Luckily my awesome parents let us borrow their house and the weather could not have been better so we were able to spend most of the day outside. I panicked for a bit when trying to figure out how to host a co-ed shower. I didn't want to over do the cuteness factor for the guys and still wanted some oooohhhh and ahhhhhhing for the girls. Karen and Jon are doing a sports theme (primarily Giants) for their little boy so I thought a sports themed (think Super bowl party) day event would work well. With a few games and cooing over gifts of course :) Everyone seemed to have a great time.

Vicky baked these adorable, and YUMMY, cookies! She made baseball cookies to give away as the favors too :)
Games: This one is Stroller NASCAR. We made the guys run an obstacle course with a stroller that held a "baby". When the clock started they had to put the baby in the stroller (love how almost all of them put it in upside down!) run the course and when they crossed the finish line I stopped the clock. If the baby fell out they were disqualified and for every cone they hit it took a second off their time. John Sandy (Mandy's boyfriend) won, even though he protested doing it at first!
Mike added the challenge of running the course with a beer in hand. More real life apparently LOL!
Check out Matt's cheering squad!
Next game was baby toss (think Egg toss). I bought these little tiny, and super weird looking (look at everyone checking them out!!), babies for people to throw back and forth, moving further and further away until only one "couple" remained without dropping it. Mike and John Sandy (again!) won this one.

Gift Time! Fear the Beard!! SO cute!

Baby Rohrbach

Yay! We got to see our baby yesterday for almost a full hour. Most of the hour was up-close shots of the heart, brain and spine but still SO amazing to look at. Here are a few pictures (I've already been told that it has the Sigona nose/looks like Gavin by multiple people!)

17 week belly

I'll have to get better at having Mike take the pictures for me since I normally do it on my phone in the bathroom in the morning before work haha! Here is my 4 week belly picture and my 17 week belly picture. Besides not being comfortable in normal pants anymore, as of Monday, I feel like I'm still pretty small and people that don't know I'm pregnant would have no idea. But that could just be in my head :) A week from today we get to see our little peanut again. I'm really hoping nothing will blow the surprise of the sex, but I do understand that sometimes it's just too obvious. Fingers crossed for us :)
Week 4
Week 17

On another note...the babies room is painted! We got super motivated this weekend and cleaned out the house of junk, went to the dumps, got paint samples, went to Ikea for a bookshelf for the baby's room and a few other things. We are also painting our master bedroom. Mike slapped the sample paint up on the walls (2 for each room) and we fell in love with 2. Mike ran back to home depot, bought the paint and already finished the baby's room! I'm going to add in a little detail and once we get furniture the decals we ordered will go up as well. Once our master is finished being painted (hopefully this weekend) we're going to go pick out new carpet for both bedrooms and the hallway. Then we get to officially rearrange all our stuff and sit back and wait. I was already exhausted doing all that at week 17, I can't imagine doing it 30+ weeks pregnant! It feels good to be so far ahead already :)

A Wigged out New Years Eve

New Years Eve was a blast as always! Our friends Cary and Lucas hosted a wig themed party at their house in Redwood City. It was so funny to see everyone's choices in wigs and it took a few double takes to recognize some people. I'm very proud to say that I lasted until 2:30am! I drove a few cars full of people home and then Mike and I headed home ourselves. It wasn't until we actually started heading home that I realized how tired I actually was - and then I proceeded to sleep until about 3pm New Years Day! Here are some pictures from the party. Towards the end of the night everyone started trading wigs - so funny to see the guys in girls wigs and vice versa.

Bring on the wig swapping!
Karen wasn't a fan of this one I guess ;)
