San Luis Obispo

I was having some major withdrawals from Heather so I scooped up Cary, Vicky and Victoria and we headed down to SLO this past weekend. Unfortunately Heather had to work all weekend, due to the fact that lots of people have been quitting lately, but the time we got with her was great! She even bought us stuff to make pancakes even though she was up too early to eat them with us. We hung out at the house Friday night and played a super fun game called Imagine iff, which I'm going to have to go buy! Saturday the girls and I had a little car trouble but the God's were on our side and it didn't last long. We hit up 2 winery's, got lunch (yay Pita Pit!) and met Heather at work to play with some of the adorable animals up for adoption while she finished up her shift. We had just enough time to go to one more winery before closing time. We spend the rest of the afternoon/evening lounging around the house trying to nap off our wine tiredness and get ready for a fun night out. Eventually we got up and went to a delicious Italian dinner then hit the bars. We had a great time, even though being in a college town can make you feel VERY old sometimes! Sunday we hung at the house until Heather got off work and then we picked up Pita Pit (yes again!) and went to Morro Bay to eat. It was beautiful but SO windy that we didn't stay long. We went to the Madonna Inn, since I had never been inside, and explored for a bit. Finally it was time we hit the road and head home :( We said our good bye's to Heather and let her get some studding done for finals. Hopefully I can fit in one more trip, besides her graduation, before she leaves SLO. I really love it there!!!

Like totally 90's!

This past Saturday Mike and I attended a few friends 90's themed birthday bash. I was waiting to post this until I had time to dig through my old pictures from the actual 90's to compare how much we nailed our 90's looks (I think I did a great job of looking JUST like I did in high school! Zig zag part, messy buns, overalls, white t-shirt, choker cross necklace and I even found my old pager!!)...but I just haven't had a second to do anything this week. I'll try and find them soon though and update my post :)

We partied to the best, and worst, of the 90's music and spent most of the night reminiscing of what life was like for us then. We had a costume contest which ended up being between me and GT. GT actually won, I believe, but since his wife was one of the birthday girls I got the prize (the pager did it!). It was a great time had by all. I love thyme parties!!!

Tahoe, my home away from home

Ahh the Beachcomber...my 2nd home all through out high school. Karen's family has been part of this timeshare for as far back as I can remember. Karen, Vicky and I always went up for her birthday weekend (March 2nd) and for a week over 4th of July when we were younger and had less responsibilities. We have been up a few times since we became adults, but not nearly as much as we would have liked. This year Karen decided it had been long enough and invited us all up to celebrate the big 28. Her and Jon headed up early Friday morning and Mike, Cary, Vicky, Victoria and I headed up after work Friday night. Poor Mike...stuck in the car with 4 hyper girls blasting their girly music (don't ya wanna dance, say you wanna dance, don't you wanna dance!) We didn't make it up until midnight but Jon had a fresh batch of Margaritas waiting for us upon arrival. Everyone was pretty exhausted so it wasn't long before we set up our beds for the night. 7 people in a one bedroom timeshare is pretty tight, but we made it work!
Saturday we got dressed for the snow and hit the snow covered beach next to the timeshare. There was lots of disking down the hill and we even shared our sleds with some kids that were without. We then moved on to making a snowman, that was uh...very anatomically correct! This is what happens with you have men help you build your snowman!
After getting of fill of snow time we headed up to the indoor hot tub then had a great lunch of home made potato leek soup and grilled cheese. Perfect snow lunch! We pretty much hung out the rest of the day and ended up in the game room playing pool and Foosball until Victoria was done cooking us a delicious pasta dinner. We took our time getting ready and hopped in a couple cabs to the casinos. Us old married couples were pretty tired so we left the single girls to have their fun without us not too much later.
Sunday we all enjoyed breakfast together at the timeshare before attempting to go walking around some shops near the state line. It was freezing and windy so we didn't last long! We went back "home" and Jon BBQed us a yummy steak lunch (yes all we do is eat on vacation!). After packing up all our gear, just in time for it to start snowing, we hit the road waving goodbye to Karen and Jon - who are still stuck in Tahoe!!! Victoria got to experience her first snow EVER which she got some amazing pictures of as we drove over the summit.
We had a great trip and I can't wait to do it again next year! Hopefully we can bring the tradition back strong! Thank you Karen for a super fun weekend!!!!
