Kids Obstacle Challenge

A few months ago we were asked if we wanted to participate in a kids obstacle challenge at Coyote point with some other families from school.  It's been a long time since I've done a mud run and was very excited to get to do another with Kendall and Mike.  The minimum age is 5 so Charlie had to sit this year out but after how much fun we had, he'll for sure be back with us next year!  It's such a popular event that it ran both Saturday and Sunday all day.  They broke each wave up by age group so let the older kids get a head start and not get held up by the younger ones.  The announcers did a great job of pumping up the kids up before we started and seeing the smiles plastered on their faces was priceless!  Once our heat started we all separated but thankfully Kendall didn't seem to mind. She loved doing the challenge with Mike and me :) She never stopped smiling and even though she made some comments about it being hard she always followed it up with "but fun!".  I didn't bring my phone with me on the run but I think we got a good chunk of before and after photos.  We can't wait to do another one!

And the dad's - minus Mike since he was running our crap back to the car
Slide into the mud - second to last obstacle
And the final one - crawl through the mud pit.  There *may* have been a mud kicking/throwing dual between Jim and Melinda hehe
Brody ran through the finish multiple times haha
Muddy kiddos!

Charlie's First Soccer Season

We decided to sign Charlie up for soccer this year and test the waters. After both swimming and gymnastics both went a little array we were a little hesitate, but the kid really needs to learn to be better at organized activities.  I was very sadly out of town for his first game but Mike made sure to take a ton of photos and give me a play by play.  Charlie started off a little shy and not wanting to join in but after a short while he went all in.  He even scored a goal!  The practices/games are once a week on Saturday's for an hour long. They practice with their coach and their European coach for that week (they come out for the season! How awesome is that?) for the first 30 minutes then scrimmage within their own team for the second 30 minutes. Now that I've gotten to attend a few games since his first, I'd say Charlie is good for the first 35-40 minutes and then is basically the one picking daisies.  But he seems to be enjoying it so that is a huge win in our book!  Go Black Widows!
