Mike joined forces with myself, Cory, and Whitney back in September to ride in Cykel Scamble in Marin, which was put on by Cliff Bar. The race was 200% free (and based on all the loot and taken home definitely true, if you've never done a race with Whitney you have too, she has an eye to get all the free stuff available).
The race premise was 4 friends, 1 bike, and 1 creative team in terms of team name and team motto. The course is one mile and depending on how many laps is dependent upon the division. Everyone has to , but order or how many laps is totally open. Costumes are also highly encouraged. Team name (thanks to Whitney!), the "Bikesexuals - We ride anything" and team motto "Doesn't our team name say it all!" Really 4 fun friends who are down to do some crazy fun athletic event together!

We were signed up for the Coasters division which is the lowest of three (with Toasters and Roasters being really good riders and some pro riders), which meant 6 laps in total for each race, not 10 or 12 like the other categories. And trust me, we choose the right category, we also dressed as hipsters, but really we just looked like normal SF people! A few pre race photos:

The course was awesome (and well a bit scary for us non BMX bike racers). There were table tops, logs, rocks, rollers, and a few other obstacles! Here are just a few ...
We each got to do a practice lap or two before the official race, and based on my practice lap I've never been so nervous to do a race in my life (and trust me I've raced a lot in my life!). A few pre-race photos to get us energized and warmed up! Plus those costumes are pretty fun and a photo booth well yes please!

And we are off, 6 laps! Round Robin race 32 teams, 2 heats each with 16, top 8 make it to finals! Some action shots! Cory raced two laps in a row (rockstar!), then Mike, Whitney, Me, then Mike again (also rocktar status)!

And we were finished awaiting anxiously for the results and the second wave to go.
Results posted!!! We made it into the finals! WOOT WOOT! We may be in 14th place, but that's okay we made it!!! Which meant we didn't have to race again till the finals (otherwise we had a sudden death race ... No thank you!)
We had some down town while the other teams raced, so we watched the sudden death rounds for those trying to make it into the finals, ate lunch, more fun photos (see below), and watched the pros expo (not quitting our days jobs). I think these photos are now on all of our fridges!
