To sum it up, we were robbed!!! haha! :) Last year we were so close and this year not close at all.... The judges change every year so even though we lost by only one vote for best
hot salsa last year we understand that the pallets were totally different this year. OH well we still had a blast and it was totally worth the effort. The only thing we are bitter about is not winning best booth. It was between us and the booth that won and the judges boiled it down to who was more authentic. Tell me a bunch of white people dressed in ponchos and sombreros wouldn't be offensive?? Anyways, here are some pictures from the event. Thank you to all that came out and supported us! It's always so fun seeing everyone!
The guys working on getting us power
Joe & Jen, some of the early riser helpers!
Capt'n Mike grilling away
mmmmm
Side of the booth decor
And the front
On top of our awesome booth we had a personalized logo stamp and temporary tattoos to give out. We all dressed the same, had our "yacht rock" music playing AND had a cut out Capt'n Mike for people to take pictures in. HOW did that not win best booth!?
The booth and people's choice winner :(
Blending away to make 10 gallons of salsa!
Booth babes!
This was the beginning of the day...
...znd this was a few hours in! SO many people the city ran out of chips to sell!
Joe doing a great impression of Capt'n Mike!
Let the Capt'n Imitators begin!
Time to walk to the square and hear the judging results
Happy! (before the results haha)
Check out all those people!!
Back at the booth for clean up. We made Mike run through the sign
