The month is almost over so I better get this post up! After finding some killer flight deals on Jet Blue Sarah proposed a quick, mid-week getaway to our happiest place on earth...Sans the little ones this time. It didn't take much convincing especially since my normal day off is Wednesday, and the Van Zant's jumped at the opportunity to join and fly themselves down. Sarah, Mike and I left Wednesday at 6am and arrived before the park even opened! We walked on to some of our favorite rides and managed to do more in our first 2 hours in the park than we normally do in half a day! We almost forgot what it was like to do Disneyland without kids haha! Once the Van Zant's arrived we headed over to DCA for some yummy cocktails and food we've been hearing about, but never want to drag the kids to a sit down meal while in Disneyland so we always skip. A few more rides, another cocktail later and we got Sarah on her first ride on Tower of Terror! Which she ended up loving of course :) We ended up at one more bar, Carthay Lounge, to try their "famous" old fashions before heading back to Disneyland. It got pretty crazy at night with the parade and fireworks so we hightailed it out of there back to DCA for another quick ride or two and ended our night at Trader Sams with, you guessed it! More cocktails and food.
Thursday we headed back into DCA to try the new Luigi ride before the lines got too long. We were a little skeptical because we've heard nothing but bad things about it, but mostly from people who have only SEEN it. We also thought it looked pretty lame while we waited in line but once on the ride none of stopped laughing or smiling the entire time. One of those, don't judge a book by the cover situations for sure! After we tortured Sarah with Mickey's fun wheel (swinging car) we finished up our to-do list there and spent the rest of our time knocking out our favorite rides in Disneyland before catching our flights home. We ate about a million churros, took our time walking around and eating actual meals, laughed our heads off and really did have the best trip ever! I still love going with the kids of course but it sure was nice to get another taste of the adult only version!
We have been on two rides, managed to get a picture in front of the castle without 2000 other people in it AND got to meet Tinkerbell all before 10am!? Already the best day ever!
Breakfast of champions!
We even met Woody
First cocktails of the trip at the Cove Bar
Love Bob's shades
Hard to pick only a few of these gems to post
Entering Tour of Terror
She was still pretty unsure about the whole thing
Not feeling any more comfortable. I think Bob and I totally helped ;p
Me = laughing, Sarah = Terror. Bob = priceless
Carthay cocktails!
Back to Disneyland
Their faces are SO great in these
That poor girl that got on with us...
Day 2!
HI Sarah!
Sarah and I sat this one out to finish our dole whips. The guys had them spinning so fast I couldn't watch without getting a little nauseous!
The end of the ride. Sarah and I both were late to the recording party (she was taking pictures, I was eating!)
