Kendall's last day as a Kinder kid

We have a first grader! Ahhhhhh!!  Geeze did this year fly by.  I'm terrified for years to come because they just keep going faster and faster.  But I digress.  Kendall wrapped up her kindergarten year with some pretty heavy mixed feelings.  She was excited for this so called summer thing but when it came down to it she was really sad about leaving school, her teacher and her friends.  The night before the last day as I was tucking her in she burst into tears out of nowhere about how much she was going to miss her teacher.  It was both adorable and heartbreaking!  Then, the day after school we were sitting in the car waiting for Mike to run into the store quickly and again, out of nowhere, there is sobbing coming from the backseat. This time because she wasn't able to say goodbye her to her friend Gaby who had missed the last day of school.  I reminded her that Gaby was coming to our house the very next day for Kendall's birthday party but there was no stopping the tears.  It's been a week since school ended and we haven't had any more tears thankfully. We'll see if that holds up!

Kendall had a fantastic first year of school.  She is reading and writing and doing amazing in math. She made great friends already (and we love their parents!) and can't wait to have many more years with them in the classroom.  Shes eager to learn and her curious nature keeps her asking questions, which I think is great.  What I found funny is seeing her at school vs at home/with her non-school friends/cousins, she is a completely different kid! In "real life"she is a leader and ring leader. She takes charge and gives orders. At school she appears to almost be a follower. Much more quiet and concerned about what other kids will think.  What stayed the same is her internal care giver. From day one she was always the kid to walk another kid to the office when they got hurt or sick. Even if it was in the middle of a movie or art.  There were so many days I heard "I took so and so to the office because they fell and were scared". This kid kills me.

We look forward to seeing what next year brings for Miss Kendall!  But summer has some amazing things in store as well so we don't want to rush it too quickly :)

End of the year, and free dress!
