I'm sure you are very surprised by this, but we had a total blast on New Years Eve! I told you - shocking news :) After way too much procrastination on figuring out what we should do that night we "settled" on dinner in Palo Alto and a train pup crawl after. Thankfully the train ran until 2am (southbound) that night so we didn't have to worry about cabs or designated drivers. 16 of us met up for dinner at Gordon Biersch before starting the true craziness of the night. The Givens' were amazing and treated us all to dinner with the profit they made from selling their Book of Mormon tickets. Thank you Jen and Joe! We lost part of our group due to other plans but the other 12 of us hiked in the cold back to the train and headed back North. We managed to hit stops in 3 different cities before settling into a bar to celebrate the New Year countdown, then hit one more bar after that to end the night. We just barely made it back to the train station for the last train home after last call, but I was thankful we waited so long because it was COLD outside! Such a great night with great friends :)
Some of us girls before jumping on the train to dinner
Hooray public transportation!
As you can see, the train was SUPER empty going Southbound. Not the case when we got back on to go North. The train was Giants Game packed with people heading up to the city.
We stopped at a bar on the walk to dinner. The girls wanted to test out their accessories.
First shot of the night!
The whole crew from dinner
And back on the train to head to San Mateo. At least we got staircase seats :)
This picture is a common theme on my camera...
Onto the next bar!
Joe brought these horrid Jelly Beans. Flavors like booger, centipede, skunk, barf.... you get the picture. There was also "normal" flavors mixed in. This is Cary and Jen doing jelly belly roulette.
That's a lot of beers!
Check out the background for our photo bombers!
Waiting for the next train
We got off in Belmont hoping to go to McGraws (formally Ausiello's), one of the only bars in Belmont and especially within walking distance from the train. When we got there it was CLOSED!? Who closes their bar on NYE? Jen and I were freezing and trains run an hour apart so we started to walk just to stay warm. When we rounded the corner we saw lights on in a restaurant, Caprinos, so we called the group and headed there. I almost didn't want to leave it was so fun! They cleared the tables out and had a DJ, fun decorations and good drinks. What a good find!
Aww, slow dancing in the bar!
I'm so sorry Vik.... haha!
After another quick train ride we ended up in San Carlos at the Patio. We were big into dive bars that night :)
We ran into Tonio and his fiance Kim on the train and dragged them with us.
Lucas - king of the photo bomb
The patio had a full spread of food! Which some of us needed greatly at this point.
I have no idea what these tickets were for, but we have a lot of picture with them...
Counting Down!
Happy New Year!!!
Joe-mance :)
This may be my favorite picture of all time!
Our last stop of the night - the Orchid Room
