Vacation! Days 1 & 2

About a month ago we took a very much needed family vacation.  Mike and I both took a full week off work, which other than time off to have the kids we haven't done since our honeymoon 8+ years ago.  I did't even take a full week off after I had little Maverick!  Anyways, we debated where to go for months and since we are crazy obsessed people we decided to do a blow out Disneyland trip.  Shocking right?  5 nights at the Disneyland Hotel and a few pit stops along our way.  Most people would think nothing about a) driving and b) Disneyland is considered a relaxing vacation, but for us it really is!  I'm going to break this up into a million posts since we have so many pictures.  So here is days 1 & 2...

Day 1 - After a bit of a slow start we hit the road to my cousin Heather's house in Grover Beach for a long over due visit.  The week leading up to our trip we had an event every night so all of the packing happened that morning. Thankfully we didn't have any sort of set schedule so it worked out.  We had a pretty uneventful drive down south and quickly grabbed Heather before she took us to the Avila Valley Barn.  Such a cute place!  There was a bunch of animals, charming market, beyond yummy little ice cream shop and tons of space for the kids to run around and stretch their legs.  After we spent some time there we hit the store and headed back to Heather's for a nice night in. The kids had a blast playing with their ping pong and air hockey tables and got more than their fair share of animal cuddles with the cats and dogs.  And I was happy because I got more than a few minutes of catch up time with my cousin :) We had a bit of a lazy morning and took our time hitting the road in the morning to head to my Uncle John and Paul's house in Studio City.

Day 2 - We got to my Uncle's mid-afternoon on Sunday (Father's Day) and the kids wasted no time making themselves at home there.  Kendall immediately clung on to Uncle John and he was a trooper going along with her craziness.  They treated us to dinner at Universal Walk and we took a stroll around after to work off some dinner and scope out anywhere we wanted to go back to the next day.  Again, it was really nice getting some one on one time with them since we usually only see them at holidays, which are always inanity.  We got the kids to bed somewhat on time so they'd be ready for a big day at Universal Studios in the morning and the adults hung out a while longer.  Somehow we managed to get up and out of the house exactly on time for our early entrance into Universal - which will be the next post!
