4 Year Old!

Charlie turned 4 on May 31st.  Something about the number four makes me a little sad since three still seems like such a baby, but four seems like an official kid. This boy will forever be my baby though so I'm not putting too much thought into it.

Charlie is full of personality and never. stops. talking.  We said the same thing about Kendall but somehow Charlie blows her out of the water.  He's very silly and inquisitive and really likes to narrate life all around him. He has formed little catch phrases that make us laugh every time he says them, is starting to tell jokes he thinks are hilarious and is basically obsessed with potty talk. Oy. He is very sweet and loving, even to his sister (most of the time) and I'm pretty sure Rocky is his favorite "person" in our family.  There will be no leaving the house or going to bed without proper Rocky hugs and kisses.  He really is a lover of all animals and I've rarely seen a kid that is so gentle with them right from the start.  Charlie is very strong willed and stubborn when he wants to be - which as a parent is very frustrating but I think it will serve him well later in life. There is no bribe in the world that will get that kid to do something he doesn't feel like doing.  He is a ball of energy but still has a bit of a cautious side when it comes to daredevil stunts (thank God).  The kid is a rockstar when it comes to injuries and most of the time we don't know he's gotten hurt until much later when a giant bruise, or - ahem - dead front tooth appears.  He has officially hit an age where he calls other kids his friends - he's my best friend, I can't wait to see my friends or I'm going to ride this ride with my new friends (more on that in the Disneyland post to come soon).  The difference between boys and girls is astounding sometimes since Kendall had besties as soon as she could talk!  Mac and Cheese is is favorite food but overall he is a pretty good eater when he wants to be.  I think he just eats some much the first half of the day he's over it by evening. He can spell his name, recognizes most of the letters in the alphabet and numbers visually and can count to 20 - pre-school ready! (thanks in large part to Michele)  He gives the best hugs and special kisses (cheek, cheek, forehead) and when he slows down for a minute to sit in our laps and cuddle we make a point to enjoy it while we can.  He is such a fun, smart, goofy guy and we love that he's ours!

4 year old well check stats:
Weight: 32 pounds, 6oz, 17% - at 3 he was 29 pounds, 9oz, 30%
Height: 3 feet, 4.25 inches, 34% - at 3 he was 37 inches, 31%

Last night as a 3 year old!
So much attitude in this picture, and so much in need of a haircut (that happened the next day). And yup, that's Christmas paper and he didn't care one bit.
Completing his original Cars "cast" collection
Charlie's actual birthday was a bit overshadowed by work, Kendall's swim lessons and a Warriors championship game. All he really wanted was mac and cheese anyways so that is what he got and we ran out at half time for some fro-yo to eat back at home.

The next night we decided to go to "the fire place" for his birthday dinner (aka mom and dad want to go out so we are using your birthday as the perfect excuse).  These kids have week long birthday's - which I'm sure we'll regret spoiling them with as they get older!
